FOUR TOPS es el nombre del cuarteto de color que en este 1966 consigue un apabullante éxito con la canción que incluyo hoy en la entrada: "Reach out I´ll be there". Magnífico tema con una preciosa orquestación, ritmo y voces, que se ha convertido en todo un clásico de la historia de la música pop/rock.
El disco single, que precede al Lp, sale en 1966 y llega en muy poco tiempo al Nº1 de las listas de Estados Unidos y de Inglaterra, aparte de triunfar en medio mundo.
Eran en su origen Levi Stubbs, Abdul "Duke" Fakir, Renaldo "Obi" Benson y Lawrence Payton, y se fundaron en Detroit en el lejano 1953 con el nombre de The Four Aimes, que cambiaron en 1956. Permanecieron juntos cuatro décadas antes de sufrir inevitables cambios en una legendaria carrera que aún perdura. Su sello de grabación era, como no, Motown.
