            Deliciosa melodía con unas voces combinadas a la perfección que hacen que esta canción se convierta en un tema de culto. Ellos son Cowsills, una banda norteamericana de Newport que hacían el llamado pop chicle. Embriagadora sincronía que hacen que viajes a otra dimensión y otro tiempo. "The Ballroom Blitz"-1973

The Sweet era una banda inglesa muy destacada del pop-rock de la década de los 70, abanderados del llamado "glam rock" que empezaron a funcionar como profesionales en 1968 hasta el 1982. Tres años de silencio y un deseo irrefrenable de volver a los escenarios hicieron que, de nuevo, se pusieran sus llamativos trajes para continuar su etapa musical hasta hoy en día.
Temas de puro rock, o incursiones muy comerciales en sus comienzos, con ese prototipo de vestuario, maquillaje y plataformas tan típico de esta época.
El tema que siempre me gustó especialmente de ellos es este "The Ballroom Blitz" que fué número 1 en varios Países en 1973.

Nº 26: SANTANA "Samba pa ti" (1970)

El extraordinario guitarrista y compositor CARLOS SANTANA es una figura de talla mundial.
Surgido en los años sesenta desde su México natal, nos trae en forma de maravilloso tema instrumental  "Samba pa ti". Lanzado en el álbum ABRAXAS en 1970, esta canción es una de sus piezas más clásicas y aclamadas, que el propio músico compuso. Exito mundial.

Nº 25: ETTA JAMES "AT LAST" (1961)

ETTA JAMES "At last" (1961)
   El 20 de Enero de este mismo año 2012, nos dejó la maravillosa Etta James. Nos dejó para siempre, al fallecer a los 74 años de edad, pero, indudablemente nos quedan sus grabaciones y sus canciones con esa impresionante voz que cautiva en el mismo instante en que se escucha.
Ella amaba el gospel, y, de hecho, como muchas otras cantantes norteamericanas, empezaron cantando en el coro de su Iglesia.
El tema que les traigo es una concesión a la balada más hermosa y suave que grabara en 1961. Se titula "At last", y, para mí es una joya musical, que, no podía dejar de poner en mis páginas. Nació en 1941 fruto de la inspiración de Mark Gordon y Harry Warren y la tocaba y grabó, Glenn Miller, para la película Orchestra Wives (Viudas del jazz). Etta la adaptó veinte años más tarde, que es la versión que les traigo.

Nº 24: BROTHERS FOUR "The Green Leaves of Summer" 1960

EL ALAMO es una muy buena película del género "western" que en 1960 triunfó en el mundo entero. Ganadora de varios Oscars de la Academia de Hollywood. La música es del ruso Dimitri Tiomkin que formaba parte de la fantástica Banda Sonora de la película, y en la que se escuchaba esta maravillosa melodía "The Green Leaves of Summer". Multitud de versiones en diferentes idiomas (incluído el castellano), pululan a lo largo de los años. En España a destacar la del Dúo Dinámico.
Pero la mejor, para mí gusto, es la de THE BROTHERS FOUR, un cuarteto folk de Seattle que la graban y catapultan al éxito.

Nº 23: DESIRELESS "John" (1989)

Era su primer álbum y en francés. Estamos hablando de DESIRELESS una artista francesa que había conseguido un bombazo mundial en 1986 con el archipopular "Voyage, Voyage" (que incluiré más adelante). Pero esta mujer, de aspecto rebelde con un característico peinado, tiene una voz que me cautiva en esa melodía rítmica de 1989. La canción que les traigo hoy en mi Blog se titula "John", y Claudie Fritsch-Mentrop (nombre real de Desireless) la borda. Me encanta su melodía y su cadencia en un tema que quizá es menos popular, pero que significaba su debut en grabar todo un Lp completo.
